London will always support cricket. Huge metropolis, lots of inhabitants with strong links to all of the major cricket-playing nations and federations, reasonably easy to reach the (insert sponsor here) Oval, or Lords via public transport - what’s there not to like?
But cricket is still struggling. The credit crunch, yet more redundancies, teachers about to strike, an unpopular coalition Government, very indifferent weather so far this summer, wilting confidence - the list goes on.
The ECB had better learn to start counting chickens.
They are about to come home to roost.
